You’re a flyer, spender

Francine Flyer
Primary Personality

FRANCINE FLYER

Just like Francine, your child’s primary Money Personality is Flyer! Flyers love going with the flow! You may notice that your child isn’t too concerned about their money or what happens to it. They prefer to “fly by the seat of their pants” when it comes to handling their money and may even ask you to hold onto it for them. Flyers don’t really plan for their money, they just focus on what kind of happiness that money can buy.

Francine is easy-going and carefree. She prefers to go with the flow in all aspects of her life, rather than sitting and making plans. She gives any money she receives to her dad for safekeeping and mostly sticks to her own routines. She doesn’t think about money much but rather on how the things money can buy make her feel. Does the ice cream cone she gets after handing the cashier her money make her happy? Then that’s what Francine is all about! However, not thinking about her money often makes Francine forget how much she has and how much she needs to be able to buy things. To help keep her on track, Francine’s dad is going to teach her how money works and what she can do with it. This way Francine can still do what makes her happy but have a backup plan too.

Sophie Spender

Secondary Personality

SofIE SPENDER

Your child’s secondary Money Personality is Spender! Spenders are carefree with their money. They aren’t concerned about how much money they spend or who they spend it on. They love to take care of people! You may notice your child when there is candy involved. They jump right in, not thinking twice to save some for later. This is their Spender side taking charge!

Sofie is an aspiring dancer. Ever since she was little, she has dreamt of going to The Juilliard School for dance.

Sofie struggles to save for her dream school because she has SO many wants. She sees new dance shoes in a window and has a deep need to go buy them as fast as she can. There isn’t anything wrong with Sofie – that’s just part of who she is! It does make it hard for her to achieve her future goals, but don’t worry!

Sofie’s mom is helping her to make a piggy bank that Sofie can put some of her allowance into each week. Through careful planning and encouragement from her friends, Sofie will eventually be able to achieve her goals.

FRANCINE FLYER

SOFIE SPENDER

A Friendship is born…

Francine is known to be someone that is generally relaxed and carefree. Francine doesn’t stress about life or the amount of money she has saved up. She loves to go on adventures with her family and best friend, Sofie. Francine’s easy-going personality is great, she is focused on building relationships rather than how much she spends. Sofie and Francine love to get ice cream when they go on vacation together, but since Sofie also loves to spend money they both end up with empty pockets by the last day of their trip. Francine and Sofie sit down together and make a list for what they can buy on their next trip before they leave. They budget for the essentials, but also put in spending money for both of them so they can still have fun! The two girls appreciate each other’s friendship because they can both help each other out.

Help grow your child’s financial brain

  • 1Sit down with your child and talk to them about wants and needs. Explain that needs are the priority and their wants can be saved for!
  • 2Give your kids an allowance of some sort! It will help them grasp how to save, spend, and share their money.
  • 3Allow them freedom with their money, but do give them some tips. We want to let them have their own money personality and not feel bad about it, but learning aspects of other types will help later on in life.
